Book Festivals Near & Far


Here are a few photos of the sweet, small town book festival I attended yesterday (August 29, 2015). It was held in a pretty little wooded park near the river in Watsontown, PA. About 15 authors attended-- a few of them dear friends whom it was such a delight to see!

Next stop: The Beaver County Book Fest in Beaver, PA on Sept. 12.  Fifty authors in a circus tent,  and some more outside the big top, as well as food stands & crafts. What could possibly be more fun than fifty authors in a circus tent, I ask you!!! I'll post pictures after the grand event!

Two handsome fellows took over while I was busy chatting with my neighbors (the fabulous writers Joanne Brokaw & Roberta Gore).

Launch Party and Beyond Hi, all! I thought I'd share some photos from the launch party we had for The Gold-Son on June 30th. The James V. Brown Library of Williamsport, PA kindly allowed us to use their beautiful media room for our enchanted woods-themed festivities. A Leprechaun showed up for the party, courtesy of Dad's Garage Art. Thanks, Wayne Parfitt! Pot o' gold cupcakes sprouting rainbows, and other goodies! Bat cookies in honor of our Faerie-bat friend Copper Meringue mushrooms, chocolate mushrooms, shamrock cookies, forest berries... The author read aloud and then gave out fabulous prizes! Yes, I wanted to show off my cute dress. Author & her wonderful husband--who gave her the shiny tree. Not part of the party--but amazing gifts my publisher sent me to celebrate the book's release. Skyscape is the best!  Also...great news! Audiofile Magazine gave the audio book their Earphones Award for outstanding audio book

Spring Cleaning Writer Challenge

Hi! I was tagged by the charming & very talented author H.L. Burke for this springtime challenge! In spite of the fact that I find the idea of spring cleaning reprehensible, here's my post! 1. Dust-bunnies and Plot-bunnies: Reorganize Your Writing Goals (Or Make New Ones)   My Big Fat Goal is to get my current novel-in-progress into shape so I can query agents and sign with a really great one by the end of 2018! Easy as pie...I wish! 2. Which Stage Are You At? Expound! a. Remodeling layouts (planning the story) b. Painting the walls in colorful hues (writing) c. Polishing the windows and scrubbing the floors and putting flowers in vases (editing) d. Blueprints (not to the cleaning or remodeling yet… just drawing up plans for the very beginning inklings of a story) e. Some combination of those things (cleaning out a closet) As usual, I’m doing   a. and b. at the same time…and a little c.   Which may explain why it takes me so long to write
