Tidings of Comfort & Joy! Hello there, reader friends!  Just a quick note here to invite you to come and see me at Cupboard Maker Books on December 9. I'll be signing books from 12:30 to 2:30, along with several other authors--including fellow fantasy writer Laura L. Zimmerman. Cupboard Makers is a spacious independent bookstore, full of wonderful new and used books, and also cats (some up for adoption!). They're located in Enola, PA, not far from Harrisburg.  Here's how to get there! Books make fantastic Christmas gifts! Hope to see you soon--and if not, have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Looking Back at 2019 (and hoping it isn't chasing me)

2019 in Review Well, it was A Year.  I hope 2019 was kind to you. I hope you found joy and created things and made someone smile. I hope you laughed hard enough to snort a few times and that all your tears were the happy kind. It was not my favorite year, to be honest. I lost my dear grandmother and faced some trials that stretched me to my limit.  But here I am, a little weary but still hopeful, determined to be and to do better in the days ahead. Wearing antlers with author Sarah Delena White In the midst of it all, I revised and edited 2 novels, wrote a few short stories, a couple poems, and most of another novel,  was published in Deep Magic's spring issue, and self-published a set of short tales about O'Neill (of The Mermaid's Sister). I met lots of nice readers at the book events I attended, and I had a great time with writer friends at the Realm Makers Conference and the St. Davids Writers' Conference. I drank a unicorn frappe (DO NOT ATTEMPT), explor...

A Tale of Two Leprechauns

It's no blarney... Right before I packed to go to Philadelphia for the 2016 Realm Makers Conference last week (more on that below), I sent the completed manuscript of my leprechaun novel to my editor. It was a proud and terrifying moment, as any writer could tell you. The leprechaun and I have been an item for almost five years now. We've broken up numerous times, only to make up and start over. So, here's hoping the luck of the Irish will be with me--and that the publisher says they'd like to give me a pot of gold to publish the novel. In other leprechaun (and mermaid) news, the Realm Makers Conference was amazing! The conference is designed for "people of faith who love speculative fiction" (fantasy, science fiction, horror, & thriller genres). One of the highlights was the yearly costumed awards banquet. Dressed as a leprechaun (heaven knows I love any excuse to put on a costume!), I received top honors in the Young Adult novel category and wen...

Deep Magic & Leprechauns

The Latest News... Hello from my writing room/ chicken farm!  Yes, I am currently sharing my office with 7 lively little Ameraucana chicks. Don't worry, they're not staying. Once they grow feathers and the weather warms up, they'll be sent to the henhouse and instructed to lay lovely blue-green eggs. In other exciting news (even more exciting than the chicken invasion),  one of my short stories is included in the June 2016 edition of Deep Magic , a  sci-fi and fantasy e-zine overseen by the talented Jeff Wheeler (author of the Muirwood series & the Kingfountain series). The issue includes writings from Charlie Holmberg, Cecilia Dart-Thornton, and Jeff Wheeler himself. Exalted company, indeed!
