It's 1987, and fairy tales are  about to become real...   Fairy tales are fun…until your life becomes one. Fifteen-year-old Frances Fye might be a little too obsessed with old books. But when grief and the loneliness of small-town life threaten to overwhelm her, stories carry her off to magical adventures. Then a new boy shows up at school—mysterious, magnetic, and shockingly similar to Fran’s favorite fictional hero. And when a wrong-number phone call leads to friendship with Trowbridge, an exiled bridge troll with sinister intentions, Fran’s world cracks wide open. Suddenly, the fairy tales she’s always loved aren’t just stories anymore. They’re real—and dangerous. Entangled in the deadly schemes of fae royalty, she has little choice but to depend on the most unlikely allies: her middle-aged English teacher who’s more than he seems, the secretly sensitive school rebel, and her less-than-charming ex. To escape the mythical lands she once longed for, Fran must face ...

THE NEWS

The latest... Just popping in quick to let you know that I will be signing books at Cupboard Maker Books in Enola, PA (near Harrisburg) on Sunday, August 18 from 2 to 4! There will be other fantasy authors there, too, including Quenby Olson (author of Miss Percy's Guide to the Care and Feeding of British Dragons & its 2 fantastic sequels). Be sure to stop in if you're in the area. The book store is AMAZING. In other news... I have a new book coming this fall from Oliver Heber Books! It's a YA fantasy about an 1800's coal town girl and the moth-winged boy who wants to give her the world. It's got found family, first love, coming of age, and my usual touch of wonder and whimsy. Watch for more about The Springborn in the coming weeks, especially over on Instagram (@carrieannenoble7).  Stay cozy! 🦔 Carrie

Book Journeys

Image
Hello, reader friends! It's been about a month since the release of Gretchen and the Bear , and I'm so pleased that people are enjoying the tale of Gretchen and Arthur!  Here's something I never really knew before I was published: the making of a book is a journey down an uncharted road. You start alone, but like a Hobbit on the way to Mordor, you pick up companions along the way--people without whom you'd never make it to the Land of Published Book (which is not anything like Mordor, fortunately, because all that fire wouldn't be good for the paper or the e-reader).  You are joined and encouraged by critique partners first, if you're blessed to have them. Next, your trusty first readers come along to offer help, guidance, and suggestions. The next part of the trip can be thorny and long, as you seek a publisher, but if you succeed in the quest, a skillful editor or two will saddle up alongside you for the next leg of the journey. You'll have to endure prick...

Gretchen and the Bear Launch Party!

Image
Hello, dear reader friends! Due to the current restrictions on Pennsylvania libraries, I will be having a launch party for Gretchen and the Bear on Facebook on June 19 at 7 pm. Bad news--no cupcakes and book signing. Good n ews--you can attend from Timbuktu or Gobblers Knob or wherever you call home, and we will still have great fun! To RSVP, click here.  We will have giveaways, Q&A, a reading, and more. Lisa from Havok (flash fiction e-zine), fantasy author Kristin J. Dawson,  and author and improv queen Joanne Brokaw will be helping me host the extravaganza.  Please come and join me (and pray for no technical difficulties on my end, since I live in  a mountainy, bad internet area). Hope to "see" you soon! Keep reading! Carrie

The Countdown is On!

Hello there, reader friends! The days are creeping by but it won't be long now until June 17th, when Gretchen and the Bear hits the shelves and the shimmies into the Kindles! The Kindle version and hardback are up for preorder on Amazon now, and the paperback will soon follow (for some odd Amazonian reason). Books are also available on Barnes & Noble's site . Hurray! I am so excited about the hardcover. I want to show you what's under the dust jacket, because it's amazing! I also don't want to show you, because what a fun surprise it would be to discover it yourself! Okay, I'm going to do it. Shield your eyes if you don't want to see. That's the front and the spine of the "naked" book. I am giddy looking at it. I hope you like it, too! Here are a few nice endorsements: “Gretchen and the Bear transports the reader into a magical realm that is one part    sci-fi, one part fantasy, one part fairy tale. It's a brilliant mash-up, and I wa...

Giant News (including news about a book containing a giant)

Warm greetings from the frosty mountains of Pennsylvania! I have BIG NEWS! Ready?  My YA fantasy (with a dash of science fiction) Gretchen and the Bear will be published May 27, 2020 by the lovely folks at WordCrafts Press! Super bonus excitment--the talented M.S.Corley, who created the covers for The Mermaid's Sister and The Gold-Son, is on board to design the cover for GATB. Here's a sneak peek at the story: Visiting dangerous Faerie-infested Britannia is the last thing sixteen-year-old Gretchen wants to do when she finally trades life on a dreary orbiting station for life on the verdant regenerated Earth. After all, no human who’s dared to visit the Faeries’ land has ever returned. But when her stepsister sneaks off to meet a Faerie boyfriend, Gretchen’s stepmother forces her to choose: risk death to rescue the runaway, or forfeit her father’s life. Lost deep in the Faeries’ forest, Gretchen meets three Bearfolk—Fae who can shift from humans to bears. Kindh...
