Happy March, St. Patrick's Day & Spring!

Image
Happy St. Patrick's Day ! ☘   Hello there!  Are you excited about springtime's imminent arrival? I certainly am.   My yard is all a-twitter with little birds and soon there will be cheery daffodils and blossoming forsythia to bring color to the winter-dulled garden.  As we're waiting for all that, here's a fun little video. Please share it with your leprechaun-loving friends.  And...if you haven't signed up for my newsletter, please click on over to that section of the blog and pop your name in the box. You'll get a free short story, and every month I'll have some kind of unique giveaway. Also, it's the best way to keep up with my newest projects and to find out where I'll be.  ☘ Saol fada agus breac-shláinte chugat! (Long life and fair health to you!) ~Carrie  P.S. If you haven't read The Gold-Son, the Kindle edition is on sale for $.99 through 3/31/22.  Click here!

It's February!

Image
Hello there, reader friend! How's your February going? Well, if you're a neat freak, you might want to skip this paragraph. I've been slowly reorganizing my office, so my desk is a tornado of books and papers. There's also a packet of gummi bears, a glass of water, various hedgehogs, and a tiny Lego Millennium Falcon, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2D2, a

Summer Fun

Image
How's your summer going? I recently enjoyed a trip to Missouri, and by enjoyed, I mean it was relaxing and rejuvenating and inspiring and exactly what my heart and soul needed! First, I spent a few days with dear friends--mostly hanging out, talking, eating, and playing the game What, and then I attended the Realm Makers Conference in St. Louis. The conference was exceptional! I'm so grateful it took place in person this year. There's nothing quite like being surrounded by a couple hundred fellow fantasy and science fiction writers!  Some books in the conference bookstore "Belle" ready for the costumed banquet My dear author friends Laura Zimmerman, Sheri Yutzy, & Lani Forbes   Here are a few things coming up, where I will be signing books and meeting readers! First Friday at Otto's , August 6, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm, 107 West 4th Street, Williamsport, PA.  Grand Opening event for Bookish in the King of Prussia Mall, Saturday, August 21, from 12 to 4.  Festi

Book Journeys

Image
Hello, reader friends! It's been about a month since the release of Gretchen and the Bear , and I'm so pleased that people are enjoying the tale of Gretchen and Arthur!  Here's something I never really knew before I was published: the making of a book is a journey down an uncharted road. You start alone, but like a Hobbit on the way to Mordor, you pick up companions along the way--people without whom you'd never make it to the Land of Published Book (which is not anything like Mordor, fortunately, because all that fire wouldn't be good for the paper or the e-reader).  You are joined and encouraged by critique partners first, if you're blessed to have them. Next, your trusty first readers come along to offer help, guidance, and suggestions. The next part of the trip can be thorny and long, as you seek a publisher, but if you succeed in the quest, a skillful editor or two will saddle up alongside you for the next leg of the journey. You'll have to endure prick

Gretchen and the Bear Launch Party!

Image
Hello, dear reader friends! Due to the current restrictions on Pennsylvania libraries, I will be having a launch party for Gretchen and the Bear on Facebook on June 19 at 7 pm. Bad news--no cupcakes and book signing. Good n ews--you can attend from Timbuktu or Gobblers Knob or wherever you call home, and we will still have great fun! To RSVP, click here.  We will have giveaways, Q&A, a reading, and more. Lisa from Havok (flash fiction e-zine), fantasy author Kristin J. Dawson,  and author and improv queen Joanne Brokaw will be helping me host the extravaganza.  Please come and join me (and pray for no technical difficulties on my end, since I live in  a mountainy, bad internet area). Hope to "see" you soon! Keep reading! Carrie

The Countdown is On!

Hello there, reader friends! The days are creeping by but it won't be long now until June 17th, when Gretchen and the Bear hits the shelves and the shimmies into the Kindles! The Kindle version and hardback are up for preorder on Amazon now, and the paperback will soon follow (for some odd Amazonian reason). Books are also available on Barnes & Noble's site . Hurray! I am so excited about the hardcover. I want to show you what's under the dust jacket, because it's amazing! I also don't want to show you, because what a fun surprise it would be to discover it yourself! Okay, I'm going to do it. Shield your eyes if you don't want to see. That's the front and the spine of the "naked" book. I am giddy looking at it. I hope you like it, too! Here are a few nice endorsements: “Gretchen and the Bear transports the reader into a magical realm that is one part    sci-fi, one part fantasy, one part fairy tale. It's a brilliant mash-up, and I wa
